September brought a new opportunity to recover excess SOL following Solana’s first rent reduction. We also partnered with Takao Zone, entered Colosseum’s hackathon to build Unclaimed API, and supported the community ahead of Breakpoint in London.

308+ SOL reclaimed for users in September

Users recovered 308.596935603 SOL through Unclaimed SOL in September across 19,917 successful claims from 5,548 unique claiming wallets.

A few September numbers:

  • 19,917 successful claims
  • 5,548 unique claiming wallets
  • 0.015494147 SOL average claim size
  • Approximately 3.59 claims per wallet
  • 10.286564520 SOL recovered per day on average

Recovering excess SOL after the first rent reduction

The first stage of SIMD-0437 went live on September 3, reducing Solana’s rent requirements. For eligible accounts, that meant some SOL previously needed to meet the rent-exempt minimum could now be recovered.

Unclaimed SOL was ready to help users claim that excess. We had prepared support ahead of the change and shared a reminder to scan wallets as activation approached.

Helping Evey get to Breakpoint

We covered Evey’s accommodation for Breakpoint 2026 in London. She has kept showing up for the community through different market cycles, and we were glad to help her make the trip.

In our September post, we also explained how this support is funded: Unclaimed SOL takes a service fee on claims, and part of that revenue goes back into supporting people in the ecosystem.

A Breakpoint ticket for community-created content

We organized a Breakpoint London ticket giveaway with a different format from a random raffle. The ticket would go to the best content about Unclaimed SOL.

Entries could be videos, threads, memes, articles, image sets, or screenshots showing what someone found in their own wallet. The invitation was open to different kinds of creators, including users who simply wanted to share their experience.

Partnering with Takao Zone

We announced our partnership with Takao Zone, where users can now claim SOL through its platform.

Takao Zone also agreed to be a pilot tester for Unclaimed API as part of our Colosseum project. That gives us a partner to test the API with while we build it, rather than waiting until the end to get integration feedback.

Building Unclaimed API at Colosseum

We entered Colosseum’s Crypto World’s Fair hackathon to build Unclaimed API.

The goal is to make Unclaimed SOL’s recovery functionality available through an API that other Solana applications can integrate and earn from. September’s announcement marked the start of that build, not a public API launch.

With Takao Zone on board as a pilot tester, we have a concrete place to start: making recovery useful inside another application and learning what its integration needs in practice.
